Your guide to an ultimate healthy weekend in Sydney

Here's to the Freaken Weekend!
Bondi to Coogee Walk2

We live in a diverse city with so much to do and see. Instead of Netflixing on the couch, surf some waves, instead of channels. Explore unchartered territory in your local area and challenge yourself to have a healthy weekend.

Indulge your senses at a retreat

Living in Sydney, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to retreats, only 45 minutes north west of Sydney CBD is one of our favourites—Billabong Eco Yoga Retreat. It seems like a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle. You’ll feel the stresses of city life melt away, with accommodation squirrelled away in the most incredible natural location. Spa treatments, hypnotherapy, yoga and meditation sessions, including buffet-style whole foods and a resort style pool. Amazing!  Prices start from $250 for one night

Explore the coast line by foot
The famous Bondi to Coogee coastline is a fascinating 6 kilometre walk with breath-taking scenery. The track is paved, so it’s suitable if you have kids who want to ride scooters or bikes. Stop off at one of the famous ocean pools like Coogee’s Wylie Baths, with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Wedding Cake Island, it's simply gorgeous. Gordon Bay also makes the perfect picnic spot. The area is sheltered, safe for swimming and snorkelling.

Workout outdoors

If it’s too nice to be sweating it out at the gym, take your training session into the great outdoors. In Sydney, we are blessed to have an awesome variety of outdoor gyms and in some of they city’s most picturesque hot spots. Pretty much Sydney’s answer to Muscle Beach in Venice, Bondi is a great spot to show off your muscles. Observatory Hill outdoor gym has awesome views of Sydney Harbour, but gets it quite busy before 9.00am and after 5.00pm.

Outdoor Boxing
There’s no experience required to join in the boxing fun at Waverley Park. Boxing drills and cardio blasting is a great way to relieve stress and feel empowered. It’s run by Agoda Studio. If boxing’s not your thing, they also hold runs, Pilates and restorative yin yoga.

Eat plant-based
Vegan menus don’t have to translate to boring, tasteless. In fact, healthy fast food is becoming more popular. With restaurants like Soul Burger in Glebe and Gigi Pizzeria in Newtown, or Shift Eatery in Surry Hills you can eat out without the guilt.

Spend time with your dog
With dog-friendly beaches and parks across Sydney, there’s nothing like spending pawsome quality time with your best friend. Stop off at Café Bones, a pooch-friendly café in Leichhardt for a well-deserved treat after a swim or walk.

Float Therapy
Described as a sanctuary of stillness, a float tank  provides you with a chance to just stop—no distractions. No mobile phones, no kids demanding your attention, nothing to do but relax. It’s simply you, in a soundproof tank filled with salt water (at the temperature of your skin). The 75 minute session is claimed to relieve stress, promote creativity, improve sleep and relieve joint aches and pains. Check out Flow Revive in Paddington, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

Bondi Farmers Markets
Wander through the stalls of fresh produce from lower growers. Delicious gourmet treats and organic fruit and vegetables straight from the farm are in abundance. Artisan breads, honey, breakfast treats and free samples combine for a relaxing morning. Open every Saturday from 9am until 1pm.
